Privacy Policy
Restockly — Last updated: February 19, 2026
1. Introduction
Restockly ("the App") is a Shopify application that enables online store merchants to offer WhatsApp-based restock notifications to their customers. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following data:
- From customers (store visitors): WhatsApp phone number, voluntarily provided through the notification form on the merchant's store.
- From merchants: Shopify store domain, store name, and billing information as provided by Shopify during app installation.
- Product data: Product title, variant name, price, image URL, product URL, and inventory status — accessed through the Shopify API with the merchant's authorization.
3. How We Use the Data
The collected data is used exclusively to:
- Send WhatsApp messages to customers when a previously out-of-stock product is back in stock.
- Send subscription confirmation messages to customers when they sign up for restock alerts.
- Display subscription and notification statistics to the merchant in the app dashboard.
- Process usage-based billing through Shopify's billing system.
4. Data Storage and Security
Customer phone numbers and subscription data are stored in a secure PostgreSQL database hosted on Heroku with encrypted connections. Data is retained for as long as the merchant's subscription is active or until the merchant uninstalls the app.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the App:
- WhatsApp Business API (Meta): To send WhatsApp messages to customers. Phone numbers are transmitted to Meta for message delivery. Meta's privacy policy applies to message processing.
- Shopify: For app installation, authentication, product data access, and billing. Shopify's privacy policy governs data shared through their platform.
- Heroku (Salesforce): For application hosting and database storage.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share customer data with any third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with the third-party services listed above, strictly for the purpose of delivering the App's functionality.
7. Customer Rights
Customers who have submitted their phone number can:
- Request deletion: Contact the store merchant or email us to have their phone number and subscription data removed.
- Opt out: Customers are only contacted regarding products they explicitly subscribed to. No additional marketing messages are sent.
8. Merchant Rights
Merchants can:
- View all subscriptions and customer data through the App dashboard.
- Delete individual subscriptions at any time.
- Uninstall the App, which will stop all data processing. Stored data is deleted within 30 days of uninstallation.
9. GDPR and International Compliance
We process personal data based on legitimate interest (delivering the service the customer explicitly requested). For customers in the European Economic Area, we comply with GDPR requirements. Customers may exercise their rights by contacting us at the email below.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
